IV.

Here then, a grain of sand against and with the wind;
among the other grains carried and seeing itself a bird
...seeing itself a bird apart from the wind or sand and
carrying its own airs. This speck without wings carried
by ambition and desire, riding the wind only where it will be
taken without regard for its own perceived powers.
This speck without wings and wind.
This speck indistinguishable from the rest but from which
it distinguishes itself, greater than all else; unaware of its being,
and being less. Singing the wind saying, "I am not you but greater."
Singing the sands saying, "I am not you but greater."
Singing itself saying, "I am not you but greater."

A bird steers from the sands. A bird has wings.
Here a grain of sand, distinguishing itself,
singing the bird saying, "I am not you but greater."
An empty echo reverberates in the wind asserting its greatness
unmet with resistance; a transmission of indifference,
singing the granule saying, "I am not you but greater."
